Last year's report was titled In times of
change, we keep moving, and this theme
could equally apply to 2020/21 as the amount
of change experienced in our industry has
continued at pace, and brought significant
challenges. Our CEO, Andrew Selley, talks
about this in his interview, below.
The significant difference to last year though,
is that the reopening of hospitality within this
period has been accompanied by a tangible
increase in consumer interest in food
provenance and sustainability, especially by
younger consumers. Our experiences in this
are borne out by our market research
findings, available via clicking on the link on
the following page. From the climate impacts
of our dining choices, to packaging and local
sourcing, increased interest in fish
sustainability and animal welfare, it has been
encouraging to see consumers thinking more
about their dining choices.
Introduction
The route of
our future.
The 2020s have been declared the decade
of action on climate change, so I am excited
that we are starting on the journey to a
science-based net zero carbon target. In
doing this, not only are we playing our part
in reducing global greenhouse gas
emissions, but also aligning with a growing
number of customers who are in the early
stages of the same journey. I hope you enjoy
reading about this and our continued work in
many different areas.
This is Bidfood's twelfth sustainability
